Golden Gate – Jerusalem Gates

The Golden Gate is the Only sealed gate out of the 8 Gates along the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem and is one of the seven Jerusalem Gates.

According to Christian literature, it is the the oldest of the current gates in the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. In Christian apocryphal text, Anne and Joachim, the parents of Mary the mother of Jesus, met in at this golden gate. Further more, it is believed that Jesus entered Jerusalem through this gate on Palm Sunday.

According to Jewish tradition, the Divine PResence used to appear through this gate and will appear again when the Messiah comes (Ezekiel 44:1-3) and a new gate shall replace the current one. This is why Jews used to pray for mercy at this gate and this is the name source for the Hebrew name Gate of Mercy.

Let’s all live the Jerusalem Experience!!!!
