The description of the Ascension of Jesus to heaven is given fully only in the Acts of the Apostles, but is briefly described also in the Gospel of Luke at 24:50 – 53 and in the ending of Mark at 16 16:19.
According to Christian tradition, the spot from which Jesus ascendant to heaven is located on the Mount of Olives, inside where it is today the Chapel of the Ascension. Within this chapel, there is a slab of stone with the footprint of Jesus as he was ascending into heaven.
Each year on Thursday, the 40th day from Easter Day, Christians all over the world, celebrate the bodily Ascension of Jesus into Heaven. This feast is ranks with the feasts of the Passion, of Easter, and Pentecost. The feast itself start with a vigil night on the eve of the day of ascension. The Francisca priests, stay and pray all night in order to be with Jesus on his last night on Earth before Jesus is joining his father in heaven.
There is no better place to celebrate the Ascension of Jesus than at the Chapel of the Ascension on the Mount of Olives – the actual spot from where Jesus ascendant with his body into heave.
I am going to be there and to prepare a video for you to watch, so you could feel as if you are actually part of this celebration.
Let’s all live the Jerusalem Experience !!!!
Dear Eran,
Thank-you, this brings back very pleasant memories from when I lived in JERUSALEM — however I am a Jew who believes Y’SHUAH is the Mashiach — this was a very special religious ceremony for Christians — I have had many many debates with other Christians about the life of our Mashiach Jesus — & try as I might I am still regarded as a little heretical to say the least, as you know (if you are Jewish your self) It is a very SERIOUS subject & JESUS didn’t come to condemn us HIS PEOPLE. The world unfortunately still thinks they are doing everyone a favour by trying to teach JEWS what a great BIG mistake they did when we killed Him & thus many still capitalising on this fact —– when JESUS does come back, I believe the first people He will visit & ask their opinions on world views are JEWS ! Then will come the judgement of the world BY —HIM ! Beruch Ha Shem —- Regards Eran — Nicholas
Wow, I am amazed with the joy of my Lord and Savior, the feeling of being present in HIM whom I serve is so awesome. I am starting to save my little money to take that trip cause if I felt sooo close to my Jesus just watching the film, I can imagine the real place, I want to go there! mja
Shannon’s story was very inspiring that in the end, when she had been pesrsed to her limit, she turned it all over to God,amen. She struggled with being second and not understanding and just needing to be accepted. In her desperation, she turned to a father figure, which just made her lonliness and grief worse. Many times,we look to others and to different things to fill the voids in our lives, however,we only fing that peace and comfort that we need, when we give it all to Christ and lean on Him amen
Dear Eran
So many times I went abroad with friends
and relatives but I could not make up a trip to the
Holy Land due to odd circumstances . Now that you
are there and sending to people like us information,
video with audio we hear the prayers and the
wonderful clear hymns we are really happy about it
and every time I receive such beautiful blogs I forward
to many friends of various other religion so that they
should also get the benefit. Thank you
The non-Christians I know typically have great recpest for Jesus of Nazareth- they just don’t accept him as the Messiah. As a Christian, I do believe they’re missing the most important part of His teachings, but the best way I know to share the Gospel is by trying my hardest to live by the example He set. It’s my responsibility to let God’s love for the world embodied in Christ’s great sacrifice reflect through my words and actions.
